NOTE: This article discusses the "how to" of playing all DVD's on the Apple TV via the VLC Media Player which does not enforce the copyright protections of playing on an external screen like the built in DVD player on the mac does. Please discuss copyright issues with your library media specialist and/or administrator.
Video walkthroughs below:
- Download the VLC Media Player from Self Service.
- Connect the DVD drive to the Mac and insert your DVD - by default, the Apple DVD Player application will open and start playing your DVD - quit this application.
- Open the VLC Media Player application to play the DVD and connect to your Apple TV.
- Adjust the sound settings on your Mac to play to the desired speakers.
